Nathan Miller is in his third year on the faculty of the Asbury University Music Department. He serves as Assistant Professor of Musicology and Director of the University Orchestra and Chamber Music programs. He has taught previously at Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky. In addition to his responsibilities at Asbury University, Nathan also directs the Salvation Army Student Fellowship Brass Band, serves as President of the Bluegrass Arts Collective, and is the coordinator for the Kentucky Music Educators Association Intercollegiate Orchestra. He received his BA and MM in horn performance from Asbury University and The University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, respectively. After completing his master's degree, Nathan worked as music director for the Salvation Army of Central KY, where he developed and directed brass band programs for children and adults. Nathan is currently a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of Kentucky, and he also serves as the Principle Hornist of the Saxton's Cornet Band and can be heard as a soloist on recordings of the Lexington Brass Band and the Lexington Historical Dance Society Orchestra. His wife, Ellen, recently gave birth to their first child, Eliza. They enjoy gardening, cycling, raising chickens, and spending time together along with their dog, Scout.
