Dr. Glen Flanigan

DR. GLEN FLANIGAN is Coordinator of Instrumental Studies and Professor of Music Education.

Dr. Flanigan conducts both the Asbury University Concert Band and the Asbury University Jazz Ensemble. In addition, he teaches private lessons for low brass instruments and classes on instrumental music education, music technology and conducting.

Dr. Flanigan is a member of Music Educators National Conference, International Tuba-Euphonium Association and the Kentucky Music Educators Association.  He also has been a performer and board member of the Lexington Brass Band.

Prior to joining the Asbury faculty in 2001, Dr. Flanigan was a high school band director in Iowa for 17 years. He is a 1982 graduate of Asbury University and holds both a Master of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois and a Doctor of Philosophy in Music with a major in Music Education from the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Flanigan served as a content reader for the first and second deditions of Dr. Lynn G. Cooper's Teaching Band and Orchestra, published by GIA.

Presentations: 

Dr. Flanigan has recently served as guest conductor with the Lexington Brass Band and has performed as tuba soloist on faculty recitals. In 2015, he served as one of two adjudicators for the U.S. Open Brass Band Championships.
