Asbury’s Pre-Public Health Sociology program combines big questions about strong communities, holistic health, and human flourishing with the practical tools of the social and natural sciences.
In this program, you’ll learn to use these tools to explore the physical, cultural, social, and spiritual complexities of health and well-being. Working alongside faculty members from both the social and natural sciences, you’ll build skills that will equip you to address the complex challenges facing local communities and medical systems nearby or around the world.

Pre-Public Health Sociology is an interdisciplinary health-related degree that combines sociology and biology to examine the physical, social, cultural, environmental and spiritual factors that influence health.
Yes. Although housed in Asbury’s Department of Social Sciences and History, the program combines sociology and biology to prepare students to study health at the individual and community levels.
The program is designed to prepare students for Master of Public Health (MPH) programs and related graduate study. Admission requirements vary by graduate program.
The degree can prepare students for entry-level opportunities in areas such as research, health education, overdose prevention and other community health initiatives. Some public health careers require graduate education or additional credentials.
