Club Sports at Asbury

Compete at the university level in disc golf, pickleball, or roundnet.

Beginning with the 2022-23 academic year, Asbury University Club Sports is now offering roundnet, pickleball, disc golf, and ultimate. Club sports offer a competitive environment, including tournament play against other universities in the region.

Compete on a High Level

Club sports have fewer divisional lines controlling which schools are allowed to compete. In 2021 Asbury’s roundnet schedule consisted of several Division I schools, with wins over University of Kentucky and University of Cincinnati, and also a great match on the campus of The Ohio State University. Our goal is to be competing with all the best schools at the top of the national scene for these sports.

Asbury first fielded a roundnet team in 2017, and in 2018 it placed second in the Roundnet College Nationals. PJ Showalter (former No. 1 ranked player in the world and current coach of team USA) is an Asbury alumnus of the Vindicated Class of 2018.

University-Funded and Supported

Many other schools around the country have club teams for these sports, but they are student-run campus clubs that function as a casual, ‘come and go’ activity. In contrast, at Asbury these teams stand out as official, funded, well-coached programs that give students a true athletic experience that would be similar to any other sport.
