Congratulations on your acceptance to Asbury University! We are so excited that you are interested in joining the Asbury community. Now that you are accepted, you are probably wondering, “What’s next?” With that in mind, we created this page to guide you through the process from now to your arrival on campus.
Most of the steps listed below can only happen after you submit your $200 pre-tuition deposit. The deposit is refundable until May 1 (fall enrollment) and December 1 (spring enrollment), and students enrolling in fall get priority registration if they submit the deposit by May 1.
You will receive an email with instructions for accessing your new Asbury email address and student portal. Once you have accessed them, be sure to check them regularly for information about next steps and Welcome Week!
To Do for E-mail
- Access your Asbury Student Portal and Asbury email address (and check it regularly!).
FAFSA and Financial Aid
Once we receive your FAFSA, we will package your financial aid offer and send it to the email address that we have on file for you. Your Admissions Counselor will reach out shortly after the offer has been posted, or you are welcome to contact us with questions anytime. To accept your financial aid, submit your $200 pre-tuition deposit, and accept your offer in the Asbury student portal. If you will be accepting loans, complete your MPN and Entrance Counseling at www.studentloans.gov.
To Do for Financial Aid
- Complete the FAFSA (if you have not already done so), using Asbury University school ID 001952. (FAFSA can be filed each year beginning October 1st.)
- Complete the Privacy Act Notice for Financial Aid and Student Accounts, if desired, and return it to the Student Accounts office.
- Submit your $200 pre-tuition deposit (credited to student account; refundable until May 1 for fall enrollment and December 1 for spring enrollment)
After you have submitted your $200 pre-tuition deposit, the Registrar will build your schedule for your first term at Asbury, using the information that you provide on the Prior Learning and Credit form and your final high school and college transcripts. You will be able to see your schedule in your Asbury portal once it is finished, beginning in late May (fall enrollment) and early December (spring enrollment). The Registrar’s office will contact you at that time with instructions for making changes to your schedule. If you are enrolling for fall, submit your deposit by May 1 to get priority registration!
To Do for Class Registration
- Complete the Prior Learning and Credit form for easier class registration and submit it to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.
- Submit your final transcripts once the classes are complete.
There are a few things that you will need to do before starting your first term of classes at Asbury, like signing up for a meal plan, registering your vehicle, and confirming or setting up your health insurance with the university (which is separate from the medical form that you’ll fill out for Health Services). The Student Accounts office will contact you in mid-June (for fall enrollment) or early December (for spring enrollment) with more information on those steps.
Asbury is a residential university, and all full-time single students are expected to live on-campus. Housing is only offered to those who have submitted their $200 pre-tuition deposit. Housing assignments will be sent out mid-July for everyone who deposits by June 10th. Deposit and fill out your Housing Preference form as soon as possible to have the best chance at getting a spot in your favorite residence hall.
To Do for Housing
- Complete the Residence Life Information and Housing forms.
Medical Forms and Student Handbook
Several University offices will require information from you before your enrollment at Asbury is complete. Be sure to sign the Handbooks for Residential Life and Community Living, and to fill out the required medical forms and return them to Student Health Services by July 1 (fall enrollment). Please note that you will also be required to submit health insurance information to the Student Accounts office during the Financial Registration process, and that filling out these forms will not take care of that step.
To Do for Medical Forms and Student Handbook
- Complete your Medical History forms by July 1.
- Read the 2018-19 Handbooks for Community Life & Residential Living.
Starting in January (spring term)?
We hope your time at Asbury will be one of growth and transformation, and we are excited to see how God will make you into the person you are meant to be. Our three-day orientation is intended to jump-start that process by helping you dive into the Asbury Community. All new first-time and transfer students enrolling full-time in the traditional undergraduate program are expected to attend.
- Friday, January 5 – Sunday, January 7, 2018
- RSVP and view the tentative schedule.
Starting in August (fall term)?
For first-time and transfer students enrolling in the fall term, we have an engaging program to help you meet your classmates, learn the “ins and outs” of Asbury’s campus, learn about a liberal arts education, and more. You can sign up for our optional Archways wilderness excursion below and find out more about our Welcome Week programming.
Pre-Orientation Trip Offerings
Archways is an optional but highly recommended five day wilderness excursion into the Red River Gorge prior to new student orientation in the fall, designed to prepare new students mentally, spiritually, and emotionally for entrance into the Asbury community. The trip provides the opportunity to experience outdoor adventure activities such as teambuilding initiatives, backpacking, camping, climbing, and rappelling, and is sequenced to accommodate varying abilities and levels of experience. Students do not need to have prior experience in backpacking in order to enjoy Archways and arrive on campus for Welcome Week with a head start in the Asbury community.
To Do for Archways
- Visit the Archways website for cost information and to register, or contact Director Trent Ellsworth at (859) 858-3511, x2491, email@example.com.
