American Rescue Plan of 2021 (ARP)

Asbury University has received funding as part of the American Rescue Plan of 2021 (ARP) via the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). As required by law, a portion of these funds have been designated to be federal emergency grants to students with financial needs because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  During the Fall 2021 Semester, qualified students received grants.  Additional grants will be distributed to qualified students in the Spring 2022 Semester.

Students who qualify for a distribution in the Spring 2022 Semester will be contacted via their Asbury email and asked to complete the ARP Grant Consent Form in the Asbury Portal no later than April 4.

These financial aid grants for students are intended for any component of the student’s cost of college attendance — or for emergency costs that arise due to the coronavirus pandemic — such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or childcare.

Frequently Asked Questions

▾ How will I receive my grant funds?

If you have been identified as a recipient of Spring 2022 relief funds, you may log in to the Asbury Portal to complete the ARP Grant Consent Form by April 4. If you do not complete the consent form, a stipend/refund will be issued to you in the amount of the ARP emergency grant awarded.

On the ARP Grant Consent Form, you can select from four options:

  • Apply the grant to your student account balance with any overpayment held on your account for the Summer or Fall 2022 semester.
  • Apply the grant to your student account balance with any overpayment issued to you as a stipend/refund.
  • Issue the grant directly to you.
  • Decline the grant.

Asbury University delivers student refunds and payroll with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. Verify your direct deposit preference by selecting the Refund and Student Payroll Options on your Asbury Portal. Payment will be delayed for students who have not selected a method for direct deposit.

▾ How will I know if I qualify for a distribution?

Students who qualify for grant funds will be contacted via their Asbury email.

▾ I received grant funding under the CARES, CRRSAA Act, or ARP in 2020 and 2021. Does this mean I will automatically receive money from ARP?

Several factors will impact whether you receive funds from this grant, based on enrollment. It is possible that you may not receive funds from ARP even if you qualified for CARES, CRRSAA, or ARP funds in 2020 or 2021, and vice versa.

▾ I have a balance due on my Student Account. Am I required to apply my ARP Grant to my Account Balance?

You are not required to apply the grant to an outstanding Student Account Balance, but it is an option for students to request that funds are applied to their balance or held for the Summer or Fall 2022 semester. Students who qualify for a distribution from this grant will be contacted via their Asbury email. Complete the ARP Grant Authorization Form on the Asbury Portal no later than April 4, 2022, to give consent for the grant applied to your Student Account Balance.

▾ The ARP Grant will help, but I have additional needs that have arisen as a direct result of COVID-19. Are there additional funds to help me?

Yes, you may complete an ARP Application to request additional relief funds for exceptional financial need. Funding is limited and subject to a maximum allocation per student. Documentation of expenses is required and supplementary details may be requested to complete the application review.
