Germany-Poland Itinerary

DAY 1:  SATURDAY – ARRIVE IN BERLIN BY NOON

Walking tour of downtown Berlin in late afternoon/evening.

DAY 2: SUNDAY JEWISH MUSEUM TOUR

DAY 3: MONDAY – BRANDENBURG EUTHANASIA CENTER

We will travel by train to Brandenburg and tour the euthanasia center and explore the educational components the curator of the museum has created.

DAY 4: TUESDAY – SACHSENHAUSEN CONCENTRATION CAMP

This day we will make our way north of Berlin via local train to visit this infamous camp.

DAY 5: WEDNESDAY – RAVENSBRUCK CONCENTRATION CAMP (Corrie & Betsy Ten Boom)

This day we will make our way much farther north via regional train to visit this infamous women’s concentration camp.

DAY 6: THURSDAY – FREE BERLIN

Students can use this day to tour a number of different sights in Berlin. They will use their Bahn pass to travel around the city with buddies. Recommendations include: Berliner Dom Cathedral, walk along the Unterden Linden, visit Humboldt University, Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, The Reichstag, Alexander Platz & Fernesehturm, take a day trip to Leipzig, or visit the Dietrich Bonhoeffer House.

DAY 7: FRIDAY – TRAVEL FROM BERLIN TO KRAKOW, POLAND

Once we arrive in Krakow, we will take a walking tour of Old Town Krakow.

DAY 8: SATURDAY – OŚWIĘCIM, POLAND

We will visit both Auschwitz I and II.

DAY 9: SUNDAY – KRAKOW, POLAND

We will use the Schindler Factory Museum to better understand the life of Polish Jews during World War II.

DAY 10: MONDAY – FREE KRAKOW, POLAND

Some options include Weiliczka Salt Mine (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Wawel Castle.

DAY 11: TUESDAY – KRAKOW, POLAND

Leave Krakow, fly out of Pope John Paul II Airport, and head home.
