Paris Semester Academics

Asbury’s Paris Semester provides a full, 13-18 credit hour semester of various general foundational credits, in addition to courses focusing particularly on modern and contemporary global contributions stemming from France, language study and the opportunity of an internship in one’s field.

Applicants do not need to come to Paris with prior French language training but are required to take French language within the program while in Paris. French majors also have the opportunity to take more advanced French courses if they so desire.

The program will be especially attractive to students of modern history and politics, the arts, communications and media, intercultural studies, business, French and Francophone culture, and French language.  All students, regardless of major, benefit from competencies acquired by the challenges of living and working abroad in a major international cosmopolitan center while obtaining a semester of liberal arts credit.  An attractive draw of this program is its internship component. Regardless of major, staff at Paris Semester will work with accepted applicants to secure an internship aligning with their field of interest.

Courses will regularly incorporate site visits. Paris houses the largest art collections in the world, for example, so regular trips to the Louvre, Pompidou Center and other important cultural centers are a regular part of the educational experience in Paris Semester

Students benefit from the unique opportunity of living abroad in a program designed to support Asbury University’s mission of equipping men and women for lives of learning, leadership and service.

This program is open to both Asbury traditional undergraduate students as well as qualifying students from any other accredited college or university in the U.S. Applicants must be full-time students with a minimum GPA of 2.75, having completed at least two university semesters.
