Johnson Hall
Hello from Johnson Hall. My name is Tim Thompson, and I am the Resident Director. This is the second year my wife and I have called part of the 1st Floor of Johnson our home and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time in this palace we call a residence hall.
A little about me -- Before coming to Asbury I lived in Indiana for seven years. During that time I earned a bachelor's and master's degree, worked at a residential high school for two years, and got married. Two years ago my wife, Jean, and I moved to the heart of the bluegrass. We were drawn by an institution rich with tradition, dedicated to learning within a Christian framework, and full of thoughtful students and caring and professional professors, administrators and staff.
A little about life in Johnson -- Living here is a lot more than just a place to sleep or to put your belongings. This is a place where you are asked to join a community. The community that I, along with ten Residence Life and Spiritual Life student staff members and many other leaders in the hall are trying to create, is one where meaningful relationships are developed, where broad based learning is valued, where celebrations are regular occurrences, and where God is glorified. We develop that kind of community by crowning a floor as kickball champion, by bringing the Asbury campus a Christmas party unlike any other, and asking professors to lead discussions about topics as diverse as holiness, male/female relationships, and the conflict in Israel. We are a community of men who aspire to use the strength God has given us to bring honor to Him.
I invite you to bring your unique personality, gifts, and strengths to Johnson and experience our community for yourself.
Strength and Honor,
Tim
