What is the Adult Professional Studies Program?

The Adult Professional Studies (APS) Program is a non-traditional accelerated program designed to provide adults with an opportunity to complete a college degree.  Convenient scheduling formats and delivery options make the APS program ideal for the working adult.  Small class sizes and highly interactive learning environments provide an engaging learning experience for the adult student.

What Bachelor of Science degree programs are offered?

Elementary Education (one-night-a-week and online)  *Students who already hold a bachelors degree can complete the elementary education program and earn licensure in elementary education.

Management and Ethics (one-night-a-week)

Leadership and Ministry (one-night-a-week)

Criminal Justice (online only)

Is the Asbury University APS Program accredited?

Yes. Asbury University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The School of Education is nationally accredited through NCATE.

How do I apply for the Adult Professional Studies Program?

Submit the following to the APS Program office:

Application fee:  None

Official transcripts for all previous undergraduate work sent directly to the APS Office from each institution

What are the admission requirements?

Students must be at least 25 years old (or 23-24 with 2 years of full-time work experience)

Students must have at least 39 credit hours that transfer to Asbury University

When is the application deadline?

The Adult Professional Studies Program enrolls new students in the spring (January) and in the fall (July).

All application materials, including transcripts and references, must be received no later than two weeks before the beginning of the first course. Please contact the Adult Professional Studies Program for more information.

How much does the program cost?

The 2012 tuition rate is $413 per credit hour.

Is financial aid available?

Yes. Students wishing to receive federal financial aid must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Completing the FAFSA will enable the Financial Aid Office to determine your financial aid eligibility. In addition, some grants and loan forgiveness programs may be available depending on your selected program of study. How are classes offered for adult students at Asbury University?

Programs completed in the one-night-a-week format meet from 6-10 p.m. on the same night of the week for the duration of the program. Organized into groups of about 15, called a cohort, students progress through the program together. Students can complete general education and elective requirements through online courses.

Programs completed entirely online are delivered through Asbury University's online learning management system.  The online platform offers a high level of flexibility for students.  Students also engage instructors and each other through live, synchronous video-conferencing experiences.

Is there a new student orientation for students in the Adult Professional Studies Program?

Yes. New student orientations are held 2 weeks prior to the beginning of a new cohort.

How long does it take to finish the program?

The Adult Professional Studies Program is designed for busy adults who already have already completed approximatley 39 hours of college credit. This format provides the opportunity to complete a degree in about two years.
