A grant from the Council of Postsecondary Education Healthcare Workforce Investment Fund (CPE HWIF) in partnership with CHI St. Joseph, awarded Asbury $400,000, which will go towards providing scholarships for Asbury Nursing Students.
A work-back scholarship that provides financial support to Asbury University BSN students in exchange for a 24-month employment commitment with CHI Saint Joseph Health in Kentucky after graduation. This opportunity provides students with valuable financial support during their studies and a guaranteed job after graduation.
This investment strengthens Asbury’s commitment to preparing skilled, compassionate nurses while addressing critical healthcare workforce needs.
Four Nursing Students will be selected annually to receive this scholarship, providing funds for 16 students by 2029. Each student selected for this scholarship will receive a $10,000 annual scholarship.
If the student receives the scholarship each year, they have the potential to earn up to $40,000 over their four years at Asbury.
Funds may be applied to tuition, fees, food, and housing.
If a student is selected to receive the scholarship, upon receiving it, the student will agree to work for CHI for each year that they receive the scholarship.
Example: If a student is selected to receive the scholarship for two years, they are then committed to work for CHI St. Joseph for 2 years after they graduate.
If they do not fulfill this commitment, the scholarship money they received must be paid back to CHI St. Joseph in full.
Students may receive up to four annual awards (maximum $40,000), resulting in a four-year service obligation.
The scholarship must be reapplied for each year by the student.
Once the student has applied and been admitted to Asbury University and declared a Nursing major, they will need to apply for this scholarship by November 1 (example date) of their senior year.
Scholarship Recipients will be notified in March of their senior year of high school if they have received the scholarship for that year.
As students advance, they are eligible to reapply for the scholarship each November.
