Asbury College freshman passes away

WILMORE, KY— The Asbury College community is saddened to announce that Sara Lovitt, 17, a freshman from Nicholasville, has died as a result of a single-car accident Wednesday night. Sara was traveling on Ky. 1268 near U.S. 68 when her car left the road shortly before 9 p.m.

She was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Sara was a member of the Consecrated Class of 2009 and a varsity cheerleader. She was a graduate of East Jessamine High School and lived off-campus with her parents, Jerry and Debbie Lovitt.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lovitt family during this difficult and tragic time,” said Dr. Paul Rader, Asbury College president. “Sara was very loved member of our community and she touched the lives of many students, faculty and staff. We are grateful to have been a part of her life and are deeply saddened by her loss.”

Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 18 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville. The funeral is Saturday at 11 a.m. at Southland Christian Church in Lexington.
