Parent Handbook: Transportation Information

Transportation for incoming freshmen and transfer students is offered during Welcome Weekend (only from Lexington Bluegrass Airport to Asbury University).  Due to the unique cultural adjustments of international and third-culture students, transportation assistance is also offered to these students throughout their first semester of attendance (subject to the availability of student drivers).  Such requests may be routed through Student Life (x2322) during normal working hours.

For transportation needs other than the above, students are encouraged to consider the following options:

  • Fellow students with vehicles. Students are encouraged to check with their friends, classmates, residents on their hall, and to utilize social media to find someone who can transport them. The Student Life Office will also attempt to maintain a list of students who have indicated they may be able to transport students.  This list will be made available to students who are unable to find a ride from their own personal contacts.  Student drivers may legitimately ask for and expect some modest remuneration for providing such transport, which would be the responsibility of the rider.
  • Asbury Inn shuttle. Asbury Inn is located across the street on the Asbury Theological Seminary campus, and the shuttle departs from/returns to that location only (no drop-off/pick-up service to residence halls).  For more information, visit the Airport Shuttle page or call (859) 858-2156 (toll-free: 1-800-2-ASBURY).
  • Local taxi services. Please visit www.taxifarefinder.com for more information, including cab company names and phone numbers.
