Sheryl VoigtsWILMORE, Ky. — The administration at Asbury University is pleased to announce that Sheryl Voigts has been hired as the school’s new Registrar.

Voigts comes to the Christian, liberal-arts University from the Asbury Theological Seminary, also in Wilmore, where she has served in the Registrar’s Office since 2005. Since 2008, Voigts has been the Registrar and Director of Enrolled Student Services at ATS.

“We are delighted to welcome Sheryl Voigts as our new registrar,” said Dr. Bonnie Banker Academic Dean at Asbury University. “Her background experiences and God-given talents are so well suited to the organizational skills and attention to detail required for this position. Her welcoming personality and commitment to service will help to carry on the goals of the Registrar’s Office.”

Voigts steps into the position recently vacated by Dr. Bill Hall, who became Asbury’s new Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. Prior to her time in the Registrar Office, Voigt was a doctoral admissions counselor, visit coordinator and assistant director for spouse and family ministries at ATS.

“In addition to the behind-the-scenes administrative tasks of the Registrar, I am energized by being involved in the academic development of students,” said Voigts. “I look forward to partnering with them in achieving their academic goals and being a familiar face they feel comfortable to contact when they need assistance.”

Voigts has a degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in Christian Education from ATS. Her primary function as Registrar will be to ensure the integrity of the academic credits given — and degrees earned — by providing administrative supervision of the Registrar’s Office and overseeing all recordkeeping in support of the academic curriculum.

“After having lived in Wilmore for a total of 15 years, I am excited to now become part of the Asbury University community,” said Voigts, who is married to Wilmore United Methodist Church Pastor Mike Voigts. The couple has two teen-age children.
