With choosing the English as a Second Language (ESL) concentration, you’ll be combining your love for the English language with clear, communicative teaching strategies. You’ll learn grammar and linguistics for teaching English learners alongside the methods and assessments needed to reinforce your lessons. After degree completion, you’ll be ready to teach ESL to your classroom both here in Kentucky and abroad!

With choosing the Learning and Behavior Disorders (LBD) concentration, you’ll be qualified to teach Pre-K through 12th-grade students with disabilities ranging from anxiety and depression, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder. You’ll learn behavioral support for children and adolescents alongside inclusive classroom demeanor and the methods of teaching students with LBD.

By choosing the Literacy Specialist P-12 concentration, you’ll gain in-depth professional knowledge of literacy development. You’ll learn how to foster advanced reading and writing skills in elementary students and understand how these skills evolve and impact learning in secondary and post-secondary education.

With choosing the Principal Licensure concentration, you’ll be prepared for leadership roles in K-12 education. You’ll learn educational leadership, school management and organization, curriculum development, and staff assessment and supervision. This concentration will also cover school law, legal responsibilities, and finances.

+GRAD FOR UNDERGRADUATE Education STUDENTS

The Asbury +Grad Program is designed to give Asbury undergraduate students from all areas of study the opportunity to obtain advanced graduate standing.

As an undergraduate student, you can complete up to 9 credit hours of your graduate degree through the +Grad program. This means that upon graduation from Asbury with your undergrad degree, you can complete a master’s degree in as few as 12 additional months, depending on the program.
