College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences

Since our inception in 1890, Asbury University has been dedicated to providing an excellent integrated educational experience that develops the whole person academically and spiritually for leadership and service. Whether preparing students for advanced study or for professional employment, all academic programs of the University are grounded in the intellectual core of the liberal arts. The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences provides the cornerstone for such an education, offering most of the courses that comprise our Foundations program, as well as an array of majors and minors across the traditional liberal arts disciplines.

The seven departments within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences include Ancient and Modern Languages, Art and Design, English, Music, Psychology, Social Science and History, and Social Work. College faculty thus encompass the history, literature, language, politics and creative expressions of the world’s cultures. The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences believes in the value of a broad exposure to our cultural heritage shaped by a Wesleyan understanding of human nature, grace, and the possibility of full salvation for Christ-like living. Accordingly, our courses from art to English are taught within an intellectual framework that promotes the integration of faith and learning.
