Dr. Thane Ury teaching a class

Dr. Thane Ury (AU ’80, ATS ‘86’), grew up in Asia and is currently Asbury University’s Scholar-in-Residence for Intercultural Studies. He has spent 20+ years in Asia, has taken around 40 trips to China, and speaks Mandarin. After pastoring a Chinese church in NYC, Dr. Ury then took a post in Bethel College’s Bible Department for 15 years before returning to missions and teaching opportunities in Asia. Dr. Ury has a PhD in theology, and as the program’s primary leader he teaches courses, leads devotions, and mentors students throughout the semester. Dr. Ury’s wife, Laura, will join the team mid-semester for 3-4 weeks.  Dr. Ury is the program director of AU’s China Study Abroad program.

Brent Reimer (M.M. and B.A., Bethel College, IN) has led more than 20 semester abroad programs in the Caribbean, South America, Australia, and Asia. He has extensive travel experience and enjoys discovering new places and learning more about cultures around the world. Formerly employed by Bethel College for 12 years, Brent is currently a freelance traveler and volunteers overseas wherever opportunities arise.  Brent adjuncts for AU’s China Study Abroad program.
