Asbury Music Alumnus Receives Grammy Nomination

November 29, 2022 — Dr. Shawn Okpebholo ’03, the Jonathan Blanchard professor of composition and music theory at Wheaton College-Conservatory of Music (Ill.), recently received a Grammy nomination for Best Classical Vocal Solo Album for Lord, How Come Me Here?

Eye Surgeons Cast Vision of Hope with New Microscope

November 22, 2022 — On November 17, Sam Powdrill and Dr. Stan Pletcher from EyeMobil Innovations spoke to the Asbury community about their new EPIC II Operating Microscope, which provides ophthalmologists with a portable microscope that makes the cure to cataract blindness accessible to the most remote parts of the globe.

N.T. Wright to Speak at Asbury

November 15, 2022 — On Wednesday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m., renowned theologian N.T. Wright will speak in Hughes Auditorium as part of Asbury Theological Seminary’s centennial celebration.

Asbury Professor Publishes New Book on Youth Ministry and Culture

October 17, 2022 — Dr. Brian Hull, professor of pastoral and Christian ministries at Asbury University, co-wrote a new book, Youth Ministry as Mission: A Conversation About Theology and Culture, with Dr. Patrick Mays, professor of Christian ministry and campus pastor at LeTourneau University. Kregel Publishing launched the book in July of 2022.

Composing in the Wilderness

August 30, 2021 — Worship Arts Professor Dr. Daniel Pinkston’s summer in Alaska for Composing in the Wilderness offers a glimpse — or a listen — into what Asbury faculty and staff accomplish outside of the classroom when students are on break.
