Job Title:        Hospitality Assistant

Reports to:     Director of Conference Services

Status:            NonExempt (10 hours/ 50 weeks)

Job Purpose:

To assist the Director of Conference Services in overseeing campus hospitality from Student Center Stewards and Baristas to Touring guests.  The assistant will aid in all aspects of hosting camp groups, conferences and others who come to our campus.  They will also assist with work orders, keeping campus poster boards updated, and general awareness of campus conditions.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate details with staff and clients.
  • Organize schedules and task lists.
  • Aid in setting out signs and instructions for visitors.
  • Give tours as needed to guests on campus.
  • Welcome guests to campus and help with check-in as needed.
  • Oversee areas of campus where hospitality is needed.
  • Help move furniture or wash and fold linens as needed.
  • Handle the schedule to lock and unlock buildings.
  • Assist in emergency situations as needed.
  • Drive golf carts across campus.
  • Use personal and or University vehicles to transport supplies or people.
  • Review files to ensure all details are handled efficiently.
  • Oversee and guide conference assistants as needed.
  • Act as primary contact in absence of the Director of Conference Services.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk (including stairs); use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift items, up to 25 pounds.

This position requires the ability to drive and therefore they must have a valid driver’s license.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

The hours of this position are varied depending on the needs of the group we are hosting.  Most will occur between 7am and 11pm and will be determined at least two weeks ahead of time expect in unforeseen circumstances.  You are expected to work a total of 10 hours per week.

Travel:

Minimal local travel is occasionally expected for this position.  Travel time is compensated.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication both verbal and written are vital.
  • Ability to organize and navigate spreadsheets (excel) is essential.
  • Understanding of google drive is helpful.
  • Experience supervising others is required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, flexible environment is preferred.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
