Academic Rank:

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.

Position Summary:

Asbury University’s Shaw School of Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Equine Studies, anticipated start date of August 2026. Academic offerings include majors in Equine Studies, Equine Assisted Services, and Equine Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching within a Christ-centered liberal arts environment, maintain an active scholarly agenda, and contribute meaningfully through service to the university, profession, and community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching a range of undergraduate courses in the equine studies curriculum. Instructional areas may include Equine Studies II (Introduction to Equine Management), Conformation, Equine Administration, Equine Law, Equine Reproduction, Riding Instructor Certification, Intro to Horse Training, Intro to Horseback Riding, and other courses as needed.

The candidate will advise students and mentor undergraduate scholarship, contributing to their academic and professional development. Additional responsibilities include active participation in campus, university, and community service, as well as engagement in relevant professional organizations.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Minimum master’s degree in equine-related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence.
  • Ability to integrate Christian faith with academic discipline and support the university’s mission.

Preferred

  • ABD or earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Equine Science, Animal Science, or a closely related field.
  • Industry experience in equine management, training, or related fields.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity or potential for sustained research.
