Job Purpose:

The Human Resources Assistant provides support for the Human Resources Office and the Business Affairs Office. The Assistant primarily oversees campus employment, student employment, and provides administrative support for the Human Resources and Risk Management functions.  An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions:

  • Administratively supports the Director and Assistant Director of Human Resources and Risk Management.
  • Operates as the first point of contact for the Human Resources Office.
  • Updates the driver’s policy and maintains the necessary records for the policy.
  • Files and manages P&C and auto insurance claims on behalf of the department.
  • Manages the adjunct faculty hiring process through SoftDocs as well as onboarding.
  • Assists with special events and projects through logistics, training, and communication.
  • Manages the campus employment process (job postings, job descriptions, summer housing applications, tracking applications, follow up with departments on needs and status, etc)
  • Processes student payroll biweekly
  • Responsible for the employment materials for all new hires.
  • Responsible for the onboarding process of all part-time staff new hires.
  • Responsible for recruiting and processing of student employees (job postings, employment paperwork, input into HRIS).
  • Reviews and provides data for student wage analysis.
  • Compiles statistics for various HR functions.
  • Respond to routine questions on HR policies.
  • Perform data entry, filing, typing, recordkeeping, processing and logging of mail, incoming calls, photocopying, handling communications, updating personnel files, and receiving visitors to the office.
  • Maintain vendor insurance certificate files and information.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of clerical experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Able to work in a multi-tasking environment with little supervision.
  • Independent judgment and administrative assistance experience necessary.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
