Job Details:

POSITION: The CSWE-accredited Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) Program, within the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences at Asbury University, invites applications and nominations for an open-rank, tenure-track position in Social Work beginning August 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach 24 credit hours in an academic year (introductory and upper-level courses; in-seat and online)
  • Advise social work majors
  • Serve on assigned university committees
  • Provide leadership and active participation in spiritual life activities on campus

ACADEMIC RANK: Academic rank at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level commensurate with experience. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field (with MSW) is preferred
    • ABD candidates will be considered
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with LCSW (Five years of practice experience)
  • Deep commitment to the integration of the Christian faith, the liberal arts, and social work education
    • Evidence of personal commitment to Jesus Christ, active involvement in the local church, and community engagement that integrates biblical and NASW values
  • Evidence of pedagogical skills (in-seat and online) and scholarship
  • Ability to teach beginning and advanced courses
  • Ability to design Social Work courses (in-seat and online)
  • Strong interpersonal skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with CSWE accreditation, specifically program assessment, curriculum development, and course design
  • Higher education teaching experience in social work practice
  • Micro/clinical experience with diverse populations
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS)
