JOB TITLE:  Certification Specialist and Graduate Program Assistant (30 hrs/wk)

Reports to: Dean, School of Education

FLSA: Exempt

Job Purpose:

An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality for our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Certification

  • Maintains current knowledge of Kentucky certification regulations and rank change requirements (Rank III, II, I).
  • Meets with student teacher candidates twice each semester to complete paperwork, advise regarding certification requirements and prepare students for licensure. (iSteps and seminar)
  • Advises students of certification requirements, and assists with out-of-state inquiries.
  • Assists students with registering for exit examinations.
  • Processes certification application forms, assuring fulfillment of all requirements, and submits recommendations to the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.
  • Enters data for every candidate in the EPSB Admit/Exit System (UG Assistant completes admits for UG.)
  • Maintains student files and credentials files.
  • Processes requests for credentials files from undergraduate students and prospective employers.
  • Prepares mentoring plans for all Option 6 and alternative administrative candidates, compiling signatures.

Accreditation

  • Assists with preparing program review documents for program review and accreditation.
  • Maintains accreditation (CAEP) files for completion and accuracy.

State/National Reports

  • Prepares annual Title II report. Maintains Title II/ETS rosters continuously from year to year.
  • Prepares Title II report data (PRAXIS pass rates), PRAXIS reports for department chairs, dean, provost, and assistant vice president for institutional research and effectiveness.
  • Maintains and updates database for graduate student program data; prepares state/national certification/accreditation reports, including admission/exit reports; collects and files related information.
  • Downloads and processes PRAXIS score reports each week, uploading into FileMaker.
  • Notifies candidates of issues with PRAXIS scores and testing.
  • Compiles certification data, enrollment data, and PRAXIS data.

WHAS grant responsibilities:

  • Applications to WHAS each year – compile needed data for requests.
  • Reports twice a year to WHAS.
  • Compiles student applications for grant scholarship money.
  • Contact with grants manager at WHAS.
  • Administers WHAS grant monies.

Other responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Graduate Data specialist to coordinate, collect, analyze, and report on data for graduate quality performance assessment system (gate data).
  • Accepts other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Background in education preferred.
  • Extensive computer skills necessary, including database programs.
