Title:  First Generation Student Coordinator

Half-time

Reports to: Assistant Director of the Center for Academic Excellence

Status: Exempt, 1/2 Time, Temporary One Calendar Year Position (1000 Hours)

POSITION SUMMARY: The First Generation Student Programming Coordinator supports students who are seeking to be the first in their family to complete a bachelor’s degree. This position works in conjunction with the Center for Academic Excellence, Student Life, and Enrollment Management to assist in development and deployment of multifaceted supports, opportunities, and resources for First Gen Students.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the Development of a Comprehensive First Generation Program

  1. Through analysis of existing opportunities, best practices, and stakeholder feedback, collaboratively identify the most strategic elements of a First Generation Program
  2. Assist in the operation of the program of the 2025-26 academic year and aid in the building of the program in perpetuity

Support the work of AU’s Center for Academic Excellence

  1. Provide student success support through the CAE to those who are, but not limited to, First Gen Students

Campus Resource

  1. Working with the Assistant Director of the CAE, coach the AU Community on becoming an environment conducive to First Gen success.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree required. Preference given to those with experience in student programming and evaluation.

Skills:   Must be skilled in working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
