Position Summary:

Asbury University invites applications for a part-time Grant Specialist Contractor to provide leadership and support in the development of an Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). This 10-month role will focus on policy creation, procedural implementation, and faculty/staff support related to external grant funding. The position is housed in the Development Office and reports directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement & Strategic Partnerships. In addition, the role will require working closely with a faculty-led OSP taskforce and other campus stakeholders. The position will require occasional on-campus meetings with various stakeholders, but a large portion of the work may be done remotely.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic expansion of Asbury’s capacity for grant acquisition and management in a mission-driven academic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development and documentation of institutional policies and procedures related to grant application, management, and reporting.
  • Work in tandem with a faculty taskforce to lay the groundwork for a sustainable and independent OSP.
  • Provide guidance on indirect cost recovery and support in the development of a cost-sharing policy.
  • Research and recommend appropriate grant management systems and databases.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of institutional and collaborative grant proposals.
  • Coordinate and advise faculty and staff on external grant applications, including identifying opportunities and reviewing proposals.
  • Support professional development opportunities for faculty and staff in grant writing and administration.
  • Maintain organized records and reports related to grants activity, success rates, and institutional benchmarks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with grant writing, grant management, or sponsored research administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Familiarity with institutional or nonprofit grant processes.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or advanced training in research administration or related fields.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and private grant-making processes.
