Marilyn Walker considers it an honor to be a part of the School of Science, Health & Mathematics at Asbury University. Her main responsibilities are concentrated with our growing & exciting Equine Program.
She is originally from Alaska where her parents were medical missionaries. She earned her undergrad degree in Christian Education at Seattle Pacific University. She is married to Doug Walker who is Associate Dean, School of Communication Arts & Professor of Media Communication and Journalism at Asbury. Together (and as a family) they have been missionaries in both Alaska and the country of Haiti.
The Walkers have two sons. Johnny Brian, his wife Ellen and family are missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Tanzania, East Africa. Kevin, his wife Janelle and family are in West Virginia where Kevin is an attorney.
Marilyn has had many varied positions over the years that have allowed her to both use and hone her organizational skills… Hospital/Medical Clinic Receptionist/Manager, Tupperware Manager, Banquet Supervisor (Hyatt Regency Lexington) and Director of Ministries for a Prayer Ministry.
A special passion regarding her pilgrimage of faith is to explore an unceasing relationship with the Father through “praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6). This is a lifelong adventure which is both challenging and exhilarating. It is an ongoing honor to pray with and for those the Lord lays in her path and on her heart.
