“Just Do It” – Dr. Bruce Branan

August 22, 2016

O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.” – Deuteronomy 6:3

What is my mission?  I believe that I am called to tell others about Jesus, that He is God, that He loves them and has purchased forgiveness and freedom for them, and that a relationship with the all-powerful God of the universe is possible!  But is that all of my mission?  I don’t think so.  I believe that there is something even higher than that, and that evangelism won’t be effective unless I get that higher mission settled first.  What is more important than telling others about Jesus?  Having a relationship with Him myself!  In Deuteronomy 6:4 (and also later restated by Jesus in Matthew 22) we read, “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”  Others will believe our message only if they see us believing it, and living it.
