Summer HICCUP Manager & Barista

The Summer HICCUP Manager & Barista is a full-time position for Summer 2026. This person can anticipate working a 40-hour work week from May 4th through August 12th. Since it is a full-time position, Asbury does provide housing for this person. Hours may vary throughout the summer, and some flexibility is needed in this role, including the ability to work later into the evening or on Saturday’s. The ability to lift more than 10 pounds is necessary in this role. The Summer HICCUP Manager & Barista can expect to fulfill the 40-hour week requirement by doing the following:

  • Managerial Experience – Under the guidance of the Executive Manager/Summer RD, the Summer HICCUP Manager can gain valuable managerial experience through:
    • Inventory management
      • Take stock weekly of coffee shop supplies
      • Place regular orders for HICCUP needs
    • Employee scheduling and management
      • Navigate summer scheduling conflicts with part-time HICCUP baristas
      • Maintain a positive workplace environment and culture
      • Ensure health codes are being followed and HICCUP service guidelines are fulfilled
    • Social media and internal communications
      • Generate graphics to promote the HICCUP to summer staff, faculty, and students as well as the surrounding community
      • Provide necessary communications during times that the HICCUP might close for holiday seasons
    • Barista Experience
      • Arrive on time to each shift and fulfill shift duties
      • Follow expectations and guidelines for opening and closing shifts
      • Be present behind the bar
      • Maintain a clean workspace
      • Make quality drinks in a timely, concise manner
      • Regularly monitor workspace to restock items when necessary
      • Follow Asbury’s community standards, including dress code
      • Maintain a professional, service-oriented, hospitable attitude behind bar and on shift
      • Work events outside of the normally scheduled HICCUP Summer hours
      • Read and adhere to the HICCUP Operations Manual
      • Be kind and supportive to fellow employees
