Job Purpose:

The Visit Specialist works with the Coordinator of Campus Visits and Events in assisting with the visit program.  The position reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.  Contributes to the goals of the Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) Admissions Office by coordinating prospective student campus visits for private, group, and athletic recruit visits. Represents Asbury University to students, parents, high school counselors, youth pastors and youth leaders, the community at large and participates in a full range of admissions activities. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides courteous and efficient public interface while representing the TUG Admissions Office to internal and external constituencies
  • Responsible for coordinating visits for prospective students and their families. This includes coordinating class schedules, housing and on campus events for private visits, group visits, and athletic recruit visits.
  • Coordinates and maintains all visits and pertinent information in the admissions CRM database.
  • Responsible for working with the Visit Team in evaluating satisfaction of visit experiences.
  • Foster a relationship with key faculty, academic department liaisons and athletic coaches in order to make campus visits a positive experience for all parties involved.
  • Serves on a team to help manage logistics, including registration, for special on-campus programs such as IMPACTU summer academic camps.
  • Occasionally represent Admissions Office at strategic off-campus admissions related events, as well as on-campus special events.
  • Performs other duties and completes special projects as assigned.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Due to the nature of recruiting events, some weekends will be required.

Travel:

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in communication, public relations, and/or business is preferred.
  • Event planning experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Independent judgment and administrative assistance experience necessary.
  • Ability to keep information in confidence.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
