Job Purpose:

The Director of Data Research is a full-time, salaried position that supports the work of institutional research, effectiveness, assessment, and planning primarily through managing processes of data inputs, warehousing, and reporting outputs. Though this position carries primary focus on these functions, serving as a collaborative team member on all endeavors is imperative. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions:

  • Collect, review, manage, and appropriately warehouse requisite institutional data sets and periodic snapshots.
  • Coordinate various offices in providing data for internal and external institutional reports and surveys, including, but not limited to: IPEDS, Common Dataset, and surveys for such entities as NACCAP, AIKCU, and additional marketing surveys.
  • Support the work of student success and retention by utilizing the Reach 360 platform in producing risk assessments to appropriate stakeholders
  • Provide leadership in the work of providing campus stakeholders with data request needs.
  • Support all efforts related to the Office as needed. This includes but is not limited to assessment design and implementation, maintaining compliance with institutional documentation needs, completing requisite analysis projects, academic program review and working toward the continuous improvement of all AU operations.
  • Assist in the optimization of Office functions and in finding solutions to ever-evolving data and insight needs. Specific attention will be giving to streamlining and automating institutional processes and assisting campus decision makers in securing requisite information as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time on-site position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remote work is possible with supervisor and university approval.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field with five years of higher education or commiserate combinations of experiences.
  • Data management and utilization experience is required.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Preferred skills include proficiency with Microsoft Excel, database applications, data visualizations, IBM SPSS, or related applications.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards and mission.
