Position Summary

Asbury University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Shaw School of Sciences, Department of Nursing. Teaching Content Focus: Fundamentals, Assessment, Medical-Surgical I

Nursing faculty will work collaboratively within a supportive Christian environment, adhering to the standards of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and in compliance with the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) regulations.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Teaching
    • Deliver high-quality instruction in the undergraduate nursing program, including classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings.
    • Develop and implement nursing curriculum that reflects the integration of Christian values, CCNE standards, and Ky Board of Nursing education requirements.
    • Utilize innovative teaching methods, including simulation and evidence-based practices, to promote student learning, engagement, and spiritual growth.
    • Mentor, teach and advise students in academic, professional, and spiritual development, fostering a supportive learning environment.
    • Teaching and program management activities are equivalent to 24 credit hours in an academic year.
  2. Scholarship
    • Engage in scholarly work, including research, publications, and grant writing, that aligns with Asbury University’s mission and contributes to nursing and nursing education.
    • Actively pursue professional development opportunities that enhance teaching effectiveness, clinical skills, and scholarly impact.
  3. Service
    • Contribute actively to committees, supporting the Christian mission and values of Asbury University and the Department of Nursing.
    • Maintain professional licensure, practice, and involvement in state and national nursing organizations.
  4. Compliance and Accreditation
    • Support ongoing CCNE accreditation and KBN compliance through active participation in program assessment and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with faculty and nursing administration to ensure that all course content, clinical experiences, and course documentation meet accreditation and licensure standards.
    • Engage in assessment and data-driven program improvements contributing to reports and evaluations as required by CCNE and KBN.

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Education
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing (Ph.D., DNP, EdD) or a related field from an accredited institution, preferred
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, accepted
  1. Licensure/Certification
    • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Kentucky
  2. Experience
  • Minimum of two years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience as a registered nurse
  • Demonstrated experience in nursing education, including didactic and/or clinical teaching
  1. Knowledge and Skills
  • Commitment to Christian faith and the ability to integrate faith into teaching and mentorship
  • Knowledge of and commitment to meeting CCNE and KBN nursing education standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in evidence-based nursing education and clinical practice, with proficiency in instructional technology and simulation
  • Experience with nursing curriculum development and program assessment
