Job Title: Graduate Admissions Officer

Reports to: Director of Graduate Admissions

Job Purpose:

The Admissions Officer is responsible for facilitating the recruitment and enrollment of new students within an assigned territory in accordance with the overall enrollment management goals and mission of Asbury University. An important part of the position is supporting the ministry and mission of the University and advancing the academic excellence and spiritual vitality of our University and students. Each employee plays an important role in the development of the Christian faith in our students.

Essential Functions: 

  • Successfully reach and exceed established goals for activities, applications, admissions, deposits, and enrollees for an assigned territory within the guidelines of Asbury University’s recruitment plan.
  • Establish and develop relationships with prospective students providing advice and counsel concerning the educational opportunities at Asbury University through personal visits, phone calls, electronic communication, and correspondence.
  • Represent Asbury University at college fairs, professional conferences, churches, and other events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Graduate Admissions office and the assigned Program Director and Dean. May attend faculty meetings or meet regularly with key individuals of the graduate program to understand the program’s distinctive features and requirements.
  • Track application materials, progress, and notify students of outstanding requirements, deadlines and opportunities.
  • Review completed applicant files and consult with the program director or dean to make admission decisions consistent with the University’s admission standards.
  • Work with admissions data team to submit completed admissions materials to the program office and registrar’s office.
  • Manage the creation and disbursement of welcome materials upon enrollment.
  • Collaborate with the Grad Advising Center to forward relevant information for successful hand-off for course plans and advising.
  • Track student enrollment and serve as a liaison for students who have not registered for courses.
  • Collect and assimilate data to create reports regarding the target market and student retention rates.
  • Work with assigned program representatives and the Director of Graduate Admissions to determine the marketing strategy and create collateral consistent with Asbury messaging.
  • Assist territory deans and directors with the Graduate Assistantship Application. Work with Human Resources to initiate Graduate Assistant contract.
  • Maintain overall leadership and responsibility for the assigned territory/program.
  • Assist the AVP of Admissions and Director of Graduate Admissions with assigned projects.
  • Perform other duties and complete special projects as assigned.
  • This position requires occasional day and night travel and some weekend hours with flexibility in schedule.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift items, up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, and normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5

This position requires flexibility and additional hours and weekend work.

Travel:

Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required: admissions, media, communications, or marketing experience or degree preferred.
  • The individual must have a high degree of self-motivation, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, high personal energy level, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • The Admissions Officer must present a positive and accurate representation of Asbury University’s programs and facilities.
  • A committed and dynamic Christian faith is vital along with the ability to support the University’s theological position, lifestyle standards, and mission.
