Through these experiences, C.J. has developed meaningful relationships with faculty, staff and fellow students while growing in her faith and leadership.

Read below to learn more about C.J.’s Asbury experience and what makes the Asbury community special to her!

How are you different today because of your Asbury experience?

“I am different because of the staff and faculty who have intentionally poured into me, both academically and spiritually, throughout the past few years. They have walked with me through seasons of joy, hardship, triumph, and failure, all the while keeping my eyes focused on Jesus, the maker and perfecter of my faith. From meetings with Prof. Caleigh Smith about my ministry courses to Dr. Jonathan Rutledge getting his morning drip at the HICCUP, the staff at Asbury are always seeking moments to spur my peers and me on!”

What’s one thing you hope every student gets to experience at Asbury?

“I hope and pray that every Asbury student will attend a Set Apart Retreat. I am super passionate about having spaces in our lives where we can step away from the noise and have a change of pace, and a change of place. Set Apart is the best space to listen to and wrestle with God, so we are continually called higher and deeper into what He has for us. Life change happens at Set Apart Retreats. I have seen it in myself and my friends, and I hope others will go and see it for themselves as well.”

If you could describe the Asbury community in three words, what would they be, and what makes the Asbury community unique?

“I would say it is intentional, joyful, and fun! The Asbury community is truly unique in that we can do all three of those things at the same time. Silent Discos, Highbridge Film Festival, and of course, WHAM are only a select few of many things that happen on campus that demonstrate the diligence and vibrancy of the Asbury family.”
