The Asbury University men’s golf team captured its second consecutive National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mideast Regional Championship on Friday afternoon, while junior Jackson Raby successfully defended his individual title to become a back-to-back individual regional champion.
Raby paced the field of 31 golfers with scores of 145 (+1), carding rounds of 74 and 71. His final-round one-under-par 71 was the lowest round of the tournament and helped him erase a two-shot deficit entering the day to secure medalist honors.
The Eagles placed four golfers among the tournament’s top 15 finishers, highlighted by another podium finish from Gehrig Galvin, who tied for second place at rounds of 77 and 76 (+9). Galvin improved two spots on the leaderboard during the final round to finish alongside Kentucky Christian’s DeHart.
Grayson Head contributed a fifth-place finish for Asbury, posting rounds of 77 and 78 for a (+11) total, while Brady Patterson rounded out the Eagles’ top performers with a tie for 10th finish at rounds of 78 and 79 (+13).
The men claim their spot in the NCCAA National Championships in Palm Coast, Fla., set for October 19-21 at the Conservatory Course.
