Asbury University welcomed Kentucky high school students interested in careers in education to campus for the Educators Rising Regional Experience on Sept. 24.
Led by a team of three Asbury University students (Perry Allan ’27, Kennedy Roberge ’27, and Ivy Romines ’27) in partnership with the Asbury School of Education, the event gave aspiring educators an opportunity to explore the teaching profession, learn from faculty and regional education leaders, and connect with students who share their passion for education.
Throughout the day, participants took part in activities across campus designed to introduce them to education as a profession while also giving them a glimpse of college life at Asbury. The experience provided opportunities for high school students to hear from educators, build relationships with peers from other schools and consider how they might make an impact through teaching.
The event also offered Asbury students an opportunity to put their own education and leadership skills into practice by helping plan and lead the regional experience.

“Last year, I was in the dining hall with some of our Educators Rising high school participants, and I asked one of them, ‘How’s the day going?’ And she said to me, ‘This is the best day of my life.’ And I thought, ‘Okay, that’s what we’re trying to do: get people inspired to go out there and change the lives of other people.’”
Educators Rising Kentucky, formerly known as Future Educators of America (FEA), serves as the Career and Technical Student Organization for middle and high school students interested in education-related careers. As the state affiliate of Educators Rising, the organization helps students develop skills, gain hands-on experience and build connections as they explore careers in education.
Through local chapters and individual membership, students can participate in conferences, projects and performance-based competitions at the local, state and national levels.
Asbury University’s School of Education prepares students to serve and lead in classrooms and educational settings through academic preparation, practical experience and a Christ-centered approach to teaching.

Asbury University’s School of Education offers traditional and online undergraduate education programs, the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) for initial teacher certification, and master’s degrees in English as a Second Language, Learning and Behavior Disorders, Literacy Specialist P-12, and Principal Licensure.
