Every student’s Asbury experience is unique. For Lucy Kate Gibson, a senior Marketing major from Danville, Kentucky, that journey has been shaped by authentic Christian community, spiritual growth, and a deeper understanding of what it means to faithfully follow Christ.
Throughout her time at Asbury, Gibson has been an active member of the campus community, including serving as captain of the women’s cross country team. Through athletics, academics, relationships, and other experiences at Asbury, she has been surrounded by people who have encouraged her faith and challenged her to grow in her relationship with Jesus.
We asked Lucy Kate to reflect on her time at Asbury.
“One of my favorite parts of Asbury has been experiencing authentic Christian community. The Lord has surrounded me with people who have continually pointed me toward Christ and challenged me to know Him more deeply. Those relationships have been one of the greatest gifts of my college experience.”
“Asbury has shaped me in every area of my life, but most importantly, it has deepened my relationship with Jesus. Through the people, professors, and experiences here, the Lord has given me a stronger biblical worldview and taught me what it truly means to know Him, trust Him, and walk faithfully with Him. I leave with a deeper love for His word and a greater desire to make Him known in every area of my life.”
“Asbury has prepared me for what’s next by teaching me that my calling is greater than my career. While it has equipped me academically and professionally, I’m most grateful that it has continually pointed me back to Jesus. Wherever the Lord leads, my greatest desire is simply to be faithful and glorify Him.”
As Gibson prepares for graduation, her story reflects the transformative impact of an Asbury education. Through Christian community, leadership, athletics, and Christ-centered learning, she has developed a deeper biblical worldview and a clearer understanding that her calling extends beyond a career. Wherever the Lord leads next, Gibson hopes to carry with her a desire to remain faithful, glorify Christ, and make Him known in every area of her life.
