Every student’s Asbury experience is unique. For senior Anneliese Zonio ’27, a Social Work major with a minor in Adventure Education and Leadership from Lexington, Kentucky, that experience has been shaped by meaningful relationships, opportunities to serve, and a growing faith.
Whether she’s welcoming classmates at the HICCUP, leading worship with Asbury Worship Collective, or participating in the Social Work Phi Alpha Honor Society, Zonio has found countless ways to invest in the Asbury community.
We asked Anneliese to reflect on her time at Asbury.
“One of my favorite parts of my time here has been working at the HICCUP! Truly, it has been so fun to get to serve other students through coffee and fun conversations. I have gotten to know so many people, both coworkers and those who frequent the HICCUP. My Asbury experience would not be the same without it.”
“I hope every student at Asbury gets to experience the benefits of the intentional spiritual formation. Whether it is through chapel, WHAM, or in the classroom, it has been so beneficial to know that the staff and faculty genuinely care about my spiritual growth and relationship with God. There have been multiple times in my university experience that, directly or indirectly, my professors or members of the Spiritual Life team have prayed for me or encouraged me when I was struggling, and I hope that is something every student experiences and takes advantage of.”
“One piece of advice I would give to an incoming Asbury student is that you are not alone and that everyone else is seeking community, too. It is easy to feel like you are the only one who feels alone or nervous about the first year of college, but everyone is. Do not be afraid to get involved and ask for help!”
As Zonio prepares for her senior year, her story reflects the power of saying yes to community, embracing opportunities to serve, and allowing God to shape every season of the college journey.
