Dr. Elizabeth Jones continues to expand Asbury University’s influence in the field of communication through nationally recognized scholarship, competitive academic appointments, and thought leadership on aging and media representation.
Asbury University Communication Professor Dr. Elizabeth Jones is gaining national and international recognition for her work in communication studies, building on a year marked by professional achievements and academic distinction.
Jones recently participated in the Association of National Advertisers Educational Foundation’s (AEF) Visiting Professor Program, a competitive opportunity that brings selected faculty members together with leading industry professionals, major corporations, and scholars in the field of marketing and communication. Hosted in New York City, the program provides participants with firsthand exposure to emerging trends, industry challenges, and innovative practices shaping the future of communication and marketing.
In addition to her participation in the AEF program, Jones presented research at the 19th Annual International Conference on Language and Social Psychology at the University of Arizona. She joined a thematic panel titled Positive Communication and Aging: Language, Media, and Social Psychological Insights for Flourishing in Later Life, collaborating with internationally respected scholars whose work explores communication and well-being among older adults.
Jones’s conference presentation stems from her ongoing research examining how mass media and social media portray aging and older adults. Her scholarship also contributes to the forthcoming Handbook on Positive Communication and Aging, an edited volume featuring leading international researchers in the field. Her chapter, Healthy Aging and Media Representations, explores how communication practices can foster more positive and accurate representations of aging populations.
It is a joy to engage in academic inquiry and to think about ways we can flourish as we grow older. It is also an honor to learn developments within the communication industry to help prepare Asbury students for their future careers.”
Jones's selection for a nationally competitive academic program, contributions to an international scholarly publication, and participation in a global research conference demonstrate the growing impact of Asbury faculty scholarship on conversations shaping society and culture.
These accomplishments follow another significant recognition for Jones. Earlier this year, Asbury University named her the 2026 recipient of the Frances White Ewbank Excellence in Teaching Award. The prestigious honor recognizes faculty members who demonstrate exceptional teaching, meaningful faith integration, and Christlike mentorship. Graduating seniors select the recipient through nominations, identifying professors who have made a lasting impact on both their academic growth and spiritual development.
Through her scholarship, teaching, and mentorship, Jones continues to exemplify Asbury University’s commitment to academic excellence and Christian higher education while contributing meaningful research to important conversations about communication, aging, and human flourishing.
