Lisa Weaver Swartz, Associate Professor of Sociology, and David Swartz, Professor of History, spent three weeks in Chiang Mai, Thailand, doing research for a book on the American evangelical antitrafficking movement in Southeast Asia. A generous grant from the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion helped fund this fifth trip to Thailand and Cambodia. So far in their research, they have conducted 212 interviews (about 25 during this trip) with NGO workers, United Nations staffers, public health experts, educators, ministers, social workers, missionaries, government officials, lawyers, and police.
