Kaitlyn McCracken Named To National Sociology Honors Cohort

Sociology student, Kaitlyn McCracken ’25, was recently named to the 2025 Honors Cohort of the American Sociological Association, placing her among the most accomplished and promising young sociologists in the country. As a member of this highly selective program, Kaitlyn will participate in workshops and share her own research at the ASA’s annual meeting in August. Kaitlyn’s capstone paper, which earned her this honor, was also a part of this year’s SEARCH Symposium at Asbury. The paper, titled, “Hauntings & Hollers: Folklore, Storytelling, and Appalachian Collective Identity” was advised by Drs. Erin Penner (English) and Lisa Weaver-Swartz (Sociology).
