First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, Florida, is a large church centrally located between Orlando and Tampa. Rooted in the mission of the global United Methodist Church to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, we strive to welcome all people, lead people into a relationship with Jesus Christ, equip believers to become disciples and then send those disciples to meet human needs. Currently, we are undergoing a 12.5 million dollar expansion project to construct a new Children’s Ministry Building and Welcome Center to better equip our campus for a vibrant children’s ministry from birth through 6th grade. We are seeking a dynamic, creative individual to serve as our Associate Director of Children’s Ministry. The Associate Director of Children’s Ministries will support the Director of Children’s Ministries. They will work together to provide programming that offers opportunities for spiritual growth for children. Working with the Director of Children’s Ministries, he/she will focus on curriculum, worship opportunities, program logistics, goal setting and monitoring, staffing and discipline, and administration. This position will concentrate on ministering to 3rd through 6th grade students but can assist with other ages as needed. Our staff culture encourages cooperation and interaction among our program staff. We want people who want to grow in their chosen area of ministry, in their personal walk with Jesus and that want to see the kingdom of God grow. First United Methodist Church is not a church stuck in “the way things have always been,” and creativity, new ideas and energy are important to us as we seek to fill this important role.
