1. Develop and implement a brand approach to promoting Library programs and services 2. Coordinate human networking, marketing and promotion of the Library and its brand to the community. 3. Chair the Marketing Committee 4. Oversee, develop, and evaluate the Library's written marketing plan 5. Research and develop best practices for increasing the customer base 6. Develop and produce messages that communicate the value of Library products and services to constituents; evaluate message effectiveness 7. Collaborate in the vision and development of the Library website and online presence 8. Represent the Library publicly at meetings and other activities as required/directed in order to develop a network of stakeholders and partners interested in collaboration with JCPL 9. Collaborate with the management team on global level projects related to marketing 10. Prepare and present to the Board of Trustees (or other stakeholders) statistical analysis and recommendations concerning marketing strategies 11. Maintain a written record of all marketing activity and expenditures for future reference 12. Develop and implement fundraising efforts for the Library 13. Develop and implement publicity materials and press releases 14. Communicate regularly and maintain positive relations with Library donors and potential donors 15. Attend Library conferences and workshops that relate to duties as authorized, or recommended, by the User Services Librarian 16. Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications / Experience: • A minimum of a BA degree in relevant field (some examples of which might be marketing, advertising, public relations or communications); MLS preferred. • 2+ years of experience developing community partnerships Additional Comments: The successful candidate will have: • Knowledge of and commitment to public library practices • Initiative, energy and imagination necessary to perform job functions with minimal direction, as well as a clear understanding of the mission of JCPL and a forward thinking vision regarding JCPL’s vital role in the community • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with business and community groups as well as media representatives, staff and the general public • Demonstrated ability to produce appealing marketing material The Community Relations Librarian must be able and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
