Community Farm Alliance Summer/Fall 2013 Internship Opportunity Description: Community Farm Alliance seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a statewide advocacy organization. The communications intern will have the opportunity to network with various organizations, partners, and members throughout the state, as well as develop a diverse portfolio of projects related to drafting and design. Community Farm Alliance is based in Frankfort, but works throughout the state. The intern will have the option to work from home and will need access to a personal computer. Responsibilities: • Research/write/edit articles and web content on a broad range of agricultural and policy issues • Research appropriate media outlets • Coordinate and videotape interviews with CFA members • Administer online surveys and polls to gather input from CFA members • Prepare agendas and record notes for committee meetings • Assist in drafting and administering E-newsletters and social media updates • Assist with website design • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other stories • Design flyers, graphics, and other marketing material for events hosted by CFA • Other responsibilities as required, based on intern interest areas and the organization's needs
Qualifications: • Completed or working toward a college degree • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space • Experience with design software, i.e. Adobe Suite and website design • Strong research skills • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press, community partners, and members • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines • Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus • Experience with video editing is a plus • Enthusiasm for the mission of Community Farm Alliance • Open to feedback, with strong desire to develop professional skills • Ability to work in a team or independently as needed

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 – 6 month commitment, 15-20 hours per week.
