For Caleb Payne ’28, a junior Exercise Science major and Education minor from Bardstown, Kentucky, his time at Asbury University has been marked by spiritual growth, meaningful community, and a growing passion for serving the next generation. As a member of the Men’s Track and Field team and a First-Year Experience (FYE) coordinator, Payne has found opportunities to develop as a leader while deepening his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Throughout his Asbury experience, Payne has learned the importance of leaning on others and embracing the Christian community around him. While he once approached life and his relationship with God with a strong sense of independence, his time at Asbury has helped him recognize the value of vulnerability, accountability, and shared faith.
“Before coming to Asbury, I was very independent and self-sufficient in life in general and in my relationship with God. Since being at Asbury, I have leaned on community more than ever before. Confession has been something that God has used to transform me. I have also grown in wisdom and maturity, both in life and in my spiritual journey.”
“I hope that every student is seen and heard and finds a place on campus where they belong, regardless of their background, race, ethnicity, gender, etc. I hope they encounter the love of Jesus and are transformed by Him, and I hope that everyone is equipped to be a light for Jesus as they go out into the world and into their careers.”
“The Lord has given me a passion for helping the next generation. Whether its helping coach middle and high school athletes or working at youth camps, I love pouring into the youth. I plan to become a P.E. Teacher and track coach, and in those positions, I plan to pour love and faith into every kid I encounter.”
Through his Asbury experience, Payne continues to prepare for a future of service, leadership, and sharing the love of Christ with the next generation.
