For Aliyah Rattray ’28, a junior Bible-Theology and Ancient Biblical Languages double major from Louisville, Kentucky, her time at Asbury University has provided opportunities to deepen her faith, serve others, and experience a meaningful Christian community. Rattray has served as a Spiritual Life Assistant (SLA), served with Kamp Love, and regularly attends WGM Furnace.
Throughout her time at Asbury, Rattray has found opportunities to grow in her relationship with Jesus while developing deeper relationships with those around her. From incorporating new spiritual practices into her daily life to worshiping alongside friends, she says Asbury’s Christ-centered community has played an important role in her experience.
We asked Aliyah to reflect on her time at Asbury.
“I hope every student gets to experience the deep and loving community centered around Jesus that is present on Asbury’s campus.”
For Rattray, that community has provided a place where relationships and faith can grow together. Through campus ministries, service opportunities, and everyday interactions, she has experienced the value of pursuing Christ alongside others.
“Asbury has created a space and provided resources for me to implement new spiritual practices into my routine. This has led to significant growth in my life, not only in my relationship with Jesus, but also in my relationship with others.”
Her experience demonstrates how spiritual formation at Asbury extends beyond scheduled worship opportunities, becoming part of the rhythms and relationships of everyday life.

For Rattray, worship and community have remained closely connected throughout her Asbury experience. Whether serving as an SLA, participating in Kamp Love, attending WGM Furnace, or worshiping alongside friends at campus events, she has found opportunities to grow spiritually while investing in those around her.
Rattray’s Asbury experience reflects the impact of a community centered on faith, service, and meaningful relationships. As she continues her junior year, the spiritual practices and relationships she has developed are helping prepare her to continue growing in her relationship with Jesus and others.
