Asbury University has named Lilly Cowing ’30, Jackson Mays ’30, Annabel Reker ’30 and Kennedy Cabell ’30 as the inaugural recipients of the CHI Saint Joseph Health Nursing Scholars Program Scholarship, marking another step forward for Asbury University’s growing Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

The scholarship program stems from a $400,000 grant awarded to Asbury through the Council on Postsecondary Education Healthcare Workforce Investment Fund in partnership with CHI Saint Joseph Health. The funding will provide scholarships for Asbury nursing students while helping prepare new nurses to serve Kentucky communities.

Each year, four nursing students may receive a $10,000 scholarship. Students can reapply annually and potentially receive up to $40,000 over four years. Scholarship funds may support tuition, fees, food and housing.

For recipient Kennedy Cabell, the scholarship brings her closer to a long-held vocational goal.

The scholarships demonstrate Asbury’s continued commitment to innovative affordability by creating pathways for students to pursue meaningful careers while reducing financial barriers to a high-quality Christian education.

Founding Director of Asbury University’s Department of Nursing Dr. Connie Lamb said the partnership also reflects a shared commitment to preparing nurses academically, professionally and spiritually.
