Jeannie Banter’s appointment reflects Asbury University’s continued leadership in shaping the future of Christian higher education through service, collaboration, and ministry.
Asbury University Associate Dean of Student Spiritual Life Jeannie Banter ’06 has been appointed as a Commissioner on the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) Commission for Campus Ministry Directors, a national leadership role that will allow her to collaborate with campus ministry leaders from Christ-centered institutions across the United States, Canada, and beyond.
The appointment recognizes Banter’s leadership and experience in cultivating spiritual formation and discipleship within Christian higher education. Effective immediately, she will serve alongside fellow commissioners to strengthen campus ministry initiatives, share best practices, and support institutions committed to integrating faith into every aspect of university life.
In his appointment letter, CCCU President and Asbury alumnus Dr. David Hoag ’86 commended Banter’s willingness to serve.

Hoag also noted that Banter is joining “a committed and thoughtful team that seeks to strengthen and support those who champion Christ-centered higher education.”
Banter's appointment further expands Asbury University's national influence by placing another campus leader in a strategic role that helps shape Christian higher education across the CCCU network.

Banter joins a growing list of Asbury administrators serving on CCCU commissions. Jennifer McChord serves as Chairperson of the Commission for Enrollment and Admissions Marketing, while Leslie Kurtz serves on the Commission for Financial Aid Administrators. Together, these appointments demonstrate Asbury’s ongoing commitment to contributing expertise and leadership across multiple areas of higher education.
The CCCU Commission for Campus Ministry Directors provides a collaborative forum where campus ministry professionals exchange ideas, develop resources, and encourage one another in advancing spiritual formation on Christian college campuses. Through regular collaboration and shared initiatives, commissioners help equip institutions to nurture students’ faith while supporting the mission of Christ-centered education.
