Two Asbury University Media Communication alumni received Emmy recognition in 2026, highlighting the University’s continued commitment to preparing graduates for excellence in the communication industry.
Asbury University is celebrating the achievements of two Media Communication alumni whose work earned Emmy recognition in 2026, demonstrating the impact of Christ-centered storytellers serving audiences.
Aaron Winneroski ’16 received two Emmy awards from the Central Great Lakes Chapter for his work with Indiana Donor Network. His projects were nominated in the Health/Medical and Public Service Announcement categories, marking a significant milestone for both Winneroski and the organization.
This is honestly so exciting. I am honored."
“I am thankful for my team and an organization that values filmmaking as a medium to share these stories of hope. I am also grateful for the donor families in these nominated videos. Without their bravery and honesty, I couldn’t have filmed and edited these videos to their full potential.”
Journalism alumnus Ty Schadt ’20 captured an Emmy Award for his documentary Tim Green – A Voice Reclaimed, which was named the Most Outstanding Long Form Sports Feature of 2025. The honor marked a notable achievement for the production, with NFL Films earning the award in a category it had not won in nearly two decades.
Schadt reflected on the personal significance of the recognition.
I still can't quite believe it's real."
“I grew up reading Tim’s books and wanting to emulate the way he told stories about sports, so having the opportunity to meet him and produce this piece was the highest honor I’ve been bestowed in my career.”
Schadt also credited the people around him for making the project possible.
“I’m thankful to work at a place that grants me opportunities to find and tell stories I’m passionate about, grateful for an incredible team of friends and co-workers who helped bring this one to life, and proud of the middle-school reader who found a dream and decided to chase it.”
The success of Winneroski and Schadt demonstrates how Asbury graduates are making an impact in highly competitive creative industries by combining technical excellence with meaningful, purpose-driven storytelling.
The Emmy recognition reflects the strength of Asbury University’s Media, Journalism & Digital Storytelling Department, where students develop practical production skills while learning to create compelling stories that inform, inspire, and serve audiences across a variety of platforms.
Storytelling is our priority, and then we prepare our students with the highest-level cameras and related film gear in the industry within an incredible facility that includes backlots, sound stages, Atmos audio, and virtual production."
