WHAM creates space for students to gather, worship, pray, and pursue God together in the middle of a busy college season.
Every month at Asbury University, students gather in Hughes Auditorium for Worship Him at Midnight (WHAM), a student-led worship experience centered on authentic worship, prayer, reflection, and community.
WHAM gives students an opportunity to pause in the middle of the month and spend intentional time seeking the Lord together. The gathering typically includes worship music, a message from student leaders or guest speakers, themed nights focused on topics like evangelism, and time for prayer and reflection.
It’s a great opportunity for the younger generation to worship God together.”
“I like WHAM because it’s an opportunity in the middle of the chaos of academics to worship for three to four hours. It’s a great time with friends. People feel more open to share at WHAM and to receive prayer.”
For many students, WHAM has become more than an event on the calendar. It has become a meaningful spiritual rhythm and a place where friendships deepen through worship and prayer.
Students at WHAM actively lead, serve, pray, and grow in a Christ-centered community together at Asbury.
We want to give the Asbury campus a space that seeks the Kingdom first and is focused around authentically giving the Lord our everything in worship toward Him.”
WHAM is one of many Spiritual Life opportunities available to students at Asbury University. Students can also participate in small groups, weekly residence hall Bible studies called GATHER, banded discipleship groups focused on accountability and spiritual growth, chapel services, and pastoral counseling through Spiritual Life staff members like Jeannie Banter, Greg Haseloff, and Maria Brown.
Whether students attend WHAM for worship, prayer, friendships, or spiritual renewal, the heart behind the gathering remains the same: creating consistent opportunities for students to encounter Jesus together in an authentic community.
Spiritual Life at Asbury University seeks to engage students with relevant opportunities for spiritual formation through chapel, discipleship, service and missions. These provide ways for students, faculty and staff to practice our faith together as a community. In essence, our desire is for each student to learn how to think well, love well, serve well and live well.
