Restored Class seniors reflect on four years of growth, faith, and community at Asbury University
In April, the Asbury University Class of 2026 gathered for Senior Celebration Chapel, stepping into one of AU’s most meaningful traditions. Four years ago, these students arrived with questions and hopes. In full circle fashion, they stood in matching class sweatshirts, singing their class hymn and looking out over underclassmen who will carry the tradition forward.
At Asbury, class identity shapes the undergraduate experience from the very beginning. This tradition, rooted in the early 1900s and formalized in the 1930s, invites each class to build a shared legacy. Students receive a class name, colors, verse, and hymn that unite them throughout their time on campus and long after graduation. The Class of 2026 embraced the name Restored, a theme that shaped their journey and pointed to renewal, healing, and purpose.
Throughout the Asbury chapel service, that identity came to life through worship, storytelling, and reflection. Student leaders and the class chaplain spoke with clarity and gratitude. A worship band made up entirely of seniors led the room, reflecting an Asbury community built on faith, friendship, and belonging.
Inspired by Psalm 51:12, the Restored Class focuses on renewal, healing, and joy. Their colors, blue and green, mirror the serenity and growth they seek in their Asbury journey. With Izzy Miller ’23 Chesser, Nick Garnett ’23, and advisors Charlie and Bonnie Temple guiding them, this class embraces restoration and the power of a fresh start.
Asbury faculty and campus leaders also received recognition for their investment in this class. Class advisor Bonnie Temple offered a meaningful gift to every senior by handcrafting pottery pieces featuring the Restored logo. Each piece serves as a lasting reminder of the story this class shares.
Congratulations, class of 2026! Remember that we love you and will be praying for God’s very best for you as you venture into life beyond Asbury.”
“Cherish these words from Proverbs 3:5-6 and hold them close to your heart: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.’”
This Asbury moment celebrated achievement in community and reminded students that formation lasts longer than any milestone.
The Restored Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy of authenticity, worship, and restoration. Asbury’s Senior Celebration Chapel marked more than an ending. It revealed what four years of intentional community can produce.
As these Asbury seniors prepare to graduate, they carry more than a degree. They carry the identity of Restored into whatever comes next.
Class identity is an integral part of the Asbury undergraduate experience. At Asbury, your class identity isn’t just something you pick up along the way—it’s part of what makes your college experience unforgettable.
